Hi! After using EaseUS to restore some files from a HDD on my laptop, the laptop has gone "Black panther frozen" and had to shut it down by holding the shut down button. After turning it back on, it didn't boot, the screen was black, had no hdd activity, only the fans were spining. I have read tons of information regarding this issue, tried unplugging the CMOS battery, removing battery and power cable, holding the power button for several minutes, tried almost everything. Then I inserted Windows 7 installation disk and it booted, the screen was on, so I reverted all my bios settings to default and restarted. Then the same issue appeared again, except that it didn't turn back on even with the Win 7 disk inside. Probably I should've installed Win 7, but I didn't,beacuse I haven't moved my information elsewhere. I gave the laptop to a technician, and he told me that the GPU can't be the problem since my screen was ok and it was showing me the installation process. I told him to use a hot blowing air fan against the GPU (GeForce GT 650m 2GB) if he expect some problem. A few days later he called me and said that probably the GPU is no more and asked me if I want from him to replace it with a new one for about 90 $. I told him that soldering a GPU to the motherboard of a laptop is not something I would want and that I can buy a new motherboard from China for about the same amount of money. Any suggestions? Thanks!
