Hi,

I have a Asus R501VB and it has a regular no-backlit keyboard. I bought a new one from amazon, with backlit(2 ribbons) and mounted it ( 2 hours of hard work!!!! )

The problem is that it does not work.

I've tried :
-FN+ F3/F4(nothing, not even the inc/dec level like if you use for brightness)
-While BIOS boots there is no light, not even for 1 sec
-It is well inserted in slot( the backlit ribbon) , next to the keyboard ribbon slot.

I'm out of ideas !
I kindly ask for you help, any suggestion is welcome but i need the help especially from guys who use( and maybe who do maintenance to) Asus products.

Thank you very much,
Chris

Mobo is n56vb (Aida, SIW) if it helps.

So i've done some measuring on my n56vb, directly on the backlit ribbon slot and saw that it has a +(5v) but has no -(minus) ! I could do the -(minus) myself manualy but a friend sayd it's risky. So is it possible that the bios is responsable for this situation ? Is it electronicaly activated by doing the grounding? Cuz the keyboard works.. I've tested it with a 3v battery on +/-and it lights up! So the laptop is the problem... MAN
