Asus S550C Windows 8 Product key

Hi there,
I have an Asus S550C which has an Intel® Core™ i5 3317U Processor, 6GB DDR3 ram, 500gb hdd +24ssd as well as HD Graphics 4000.

Where can i find my windows 8 product key, i have looked everywhere on the box under the laptop and i can't find it.

Newer systems with OEM Windows 8 preinstalled use a key embedded in the BIOS and do not have a COA sticker with the key on it as in the past.

First thing you should be doing after taking the PC out of the box is run the manufacturer's utility to create a factory restore set of discs (or USB stick) as a guard against just such an eventuality.

I did that from Microsofts website, and i have put it on a DVD does that mean if my laptop dies i can puit that back in and i can get windows 8.1 working again?

You cannot use the disc images from Microsoft as you do not have the key. The restore set you create using the manufacturer's utility does not ask for a key, it uses the key embedded on the motherboard.

Don't know on Asus, but on HP's it's called "Recovery Media Creation".
