Question Asus Tuff Fx507 not recognizing new WD_Black 4tb ssd in secondary m2 slot

Hello,

I've been wanting to make use of my Asus Fx507's secondary m2 slot. I have tried two different m2 ssds to try to make this dream a reality. The first ssd that I tried was the Samsung Evo 4tb drive. I could not get anything to recognize it - Not windows, not BIOS, not Samsung Magician. I tried swapping m2 ports but the pc still flawlessly booted to the original NVME SSD now in the 2nd m2 port and ignored the new 4tb drive in the first m2 slot. So I returned the Samsung EVO SSD.

I then picked up a WD Black m2 4tb SSD and am encountering similar problems. Windows doesn't recognize it, BIOS won't recognize it, but Samsung Magician will recognize it- just not let me do anything with it. For instance, I can't send a clone from my C drive to the new drive. Is there anything obvious I'm missing here? Note: my Tuf has the latest BIOS. I have tried swapping the drives in to the other port like I did with the Samsung, with the same result. Except the drive is visible in Samsung Magician.

Thank you for any help, I've done a lot of trouble shooting on this one.

It is a serious forum. The issue is that not all devices can use larger than 2TB NVME SSDs.

That gives more context, thank you. I do not have any 2tb m2s laying around to test this out, but every source I have checked confirmed the Asus Tuf fx507 mobo should accept up to 4tb drives.

I assume you currently have a 1 or 2TB SSD. Correct?

Two different 4TB makes/models. Both slots. Seems more than coincidental.

Does your laptop BIOS allow you to manually set the version of the m.2 slots?
