There are two laptops that are pretty interesting and my budget at most is around $1000. I mostly use it for web browsing with chrome and lots of spreadsheets and world documents.

Asus UX305 is $899 with -> Core m3-6y30, 256gb SSD, 1920x1080 FHD, 8gb ram, 2.6 lbs, sleek alunimum build.

Dell Convertible 13.3" is $1000, Core i5-6200U, 256gb SSD, 1920x1080 FHD touchscreen, 8gb ram, 2.6 lbs, gold aluninum build (gold color good or bad? can look pretty bad when it gets dirty)

Question is how powerful is the m3-6y30 compared to i5-6200U and does it worth an extra $150 or so? I've seen benchmarks and i5 only scores like 5% higher on average (and of course all reviews said the Asus carry a much faster ssd improving performance). I can't seem to find consistent benchmark between the two cpus as the figures all differ and the older gen 5y10 broadwell is more popular?

Second on a 13.3" screen, is the 1080p screen worth it compared to 1366x768 config? Eyestrain?

Okay, just wanted to clarify that. To your question: The i5 is superior to the Core M. It's definitly worth it. Don't rely too much on synthetic benchmarks, they often differ from real-world situations.

But there is an issue with price point here. i5 for the zenbook cost at least $1200 and with tax its like 1450. The core m3 6y10 is only $800. I only do mostly word processing, excel, and other stuff that may not require such a need for single threaded performance.
