ASUS X555L RAM Upgrade

I have a 4 GB DDR3 soldered RAM on my laptop.ASUS recommended maximum RAM is 8GB. How do i upgrade to the asus maximum recommended RAM? CAN I JUST BUY 8GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM or 4 GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM?

If you have 4GB and the max is 8GB, then another 4GB would do it.

Try to match the current memory's specs as closely as you can (speed, latency, etc.) That will help to avoid instability.

If it is the x555la, it only got 1 memory slot

The X555LA is just a specific configuration under the X555L series. All the X555L models have similar motherboards with one memory bank for modular memory, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm guessing OP has the X555LN model, based on the on-board RAM.
