Hello,

I wanted to see what would be the better laptop for Gaming purposes, specifically for World of Warcraft. My two options are:

Refurbished Asus G50VT-X5

Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 2.13 GHz Processor
3 MB L2 Cache, 1066 MHz Bus speed
4096 MB DDR2 (PC2-6400) RAM
GeForce 9800M GS 512mb
7200rpm 320gb HD

or

Gateway NV5925u

Intel Core i5-430M 2.26GHz
4GB DDR3
500GB HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB

I know the i5 is better but I haven't been able to find much info on the HD 5650 and I wanted to check here. I'll pay the price difference if its drastically better.

Notebook check is getting to be kinda crap nowadays, they don't test many laptops anymore, and their list on the right hand side doesn't even match the tests they do reference.

They don't know anything of the new chips obviously. They've got the HD5830 listed below the GF9800GS, and yet it actually destroys it and is more in the GF9800GTX range of performance. And they have the HD5850 below the GF9800GT, when is actually well outpaces the GTX.

It's a nice quick reference for features (although sometimes they manage to mess that up too), but I wouldn't trust any of their performance ranks.

To the OP, get the Gateway, better overall Laptop for gaming, although I'd prefer a little bit more for a better combination CPU & GPU.

2nd one has very good GPU but slow processor, due to which games will lag on higher settings and resolutions, whereas 1st one is more stable system, 5650 is 30-35% slower as compared to 9800M GS but the i5 is a much better choice, btw your gateway is equipped with 430M, now a days you can easily get a laptop with 5650 and 460M or Phenom 2 X4 N950 under 750$ check it out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115864

NOTE= The i5 430M performs slower than i3 370M and i5 450M just above or same as i3 370M, however 460M is far ahead

Yeah, he is true, i myself dont see ratings on their website, i just see 3DMARK06 and Cinebench single and multi score, they also have placed 6970M at some 8th or 9th place and yet it is performing same as GTX480M SLI which is listed as 1st.
