Audio program that splits a big file into smaller files at intervals of silence in the audio.

Hey everyone!

So I'm looking for something odd, and very specific, maybe someone has heard of something like this. I need a program that can break up a large audio file into smaller pieces, based on where an interval of silence is in the larger file. I work at a school and we recently started using Audible books in our library, unfortunately, Audible only has its sound files available in large sections (one or two) rather than chapters and my supervisors want them in smaller chapter sized files. So I've done two of these books, breaking out the chapters manually based on where there was a pause for 1-2 seconds. Does anyone have any ideas to make this easier?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Solution
there is software for digitising records (vinyl) on the PC. They do exactly that, find the pauses and split the files up. I used one a while ago but cant remember the name of the software.
