Hi guys , I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7000. I'm a university student I use the laptop mainly for skl work and watching videos. So I was using the laptop while I was since bed and it was on my tummy while the charging plug was connected. Suddenly out of nowhere it started going into sleep mode . So I thought the vents were dirty but they weren't even the fan was pretty clean. It had just been a year I bought. The the copper thing connected to the fan was extremely hot tho. I don't expect the thermal paste to dry up. But is it actually the thermal paste that has dried up or is it something else.i don't thinks it's a software issue. What should I do.

Solution
If it is overheating it is unlikely that it is software. And yes over time the thermal paste can totally need replacing. I would try that first.

It's the copper thingy connected to the fan. I think it's the heat sink
