avast removal problem

hello. i have an old pc that i dont want to format it and i have the following problem. i had installed avast! antivirus. i tryed to remove it with the tool from avast in safe mode and it said that it has been removed. when i go back to normal operation (not safe mode) and i go to control panel/security it still says that i am protected from avast. i installed nod32 and it still says the same. can anyone please help me? thanks!!

Just uninstall it in windows. You don't need safe mode to uninstall. Or you could just delete file and it'll bring you to a 'thank you for using avast' type of thing. It won't always work though.
