AVG Secure search browser hijacking

So, I thought I had fixed the issue ages ago.
But now everytime I install Google Chrome on a new machine, be it in linux, be it windows.

Oh and do note this started VERY recently (a few weeks ago) and in that time I have NOT once ever installed a single AVG or related product on ANY computer that does this.

AVG Secure Search + Yahoo search instantly hijacks my browser upon logging into my Google account. And it doesn't show up ANYWHERE not in "Programs" not in Chromes "Search Engines", not in add-ons.
It seems to be completely invisible to the rest of the system. O_O

(NOTE: This is part of the reason why I no longer use AVG products.)

Help is very appreciated.

Celeron D 3.06ghz (Socket 478)
2.5GB DDR
320GB Seagate 5900rpm
LG DVD-RW Super-Multi drive
Geforce FX 5800 128mb
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit (x86)

Just change your start page. You can also disable the accelerator in IE.

Except I can't do that.
Google Chrome only lets me manage "Search engines" not the start page.
And this has nothing to do with Internet Explorer, this is occurring in GOOGLE CHROME specifically.
Start and Accelerator settings in IE do NOT affect other browsers, they only affect IE, and my settings in IE are perfectly clean and have not been hijacked.

You can set a startup page too. Go to the Chrome browser settings. In the 'on startup' section, click the radio button for 'open a specific page or set of pages,' click the 'set pages' link, and enter the desired startup page there. Similar to accelerators setting in IE, you can manage search engines in Chrome, to remove any AVG reference there.

Where are you downloading Chrome from? I just installed it (direct from Google), and do not see that same effect.

That's weird. Anyway I had already checked search engines and funny enough, AVG/Yahoo weren't there.

Hopefully it saves the changes and doesn't do it again the next time I sign into google on a different computer.

yup and the solution worked.
Actually, I chose to remove those from the "open pages" settings.
but I changed my start-up to the new-tab page, to help cope with starting up chrome on this slower than molasses computer. LOL
