Battery runs low and screen turns black but programmes still running

Hi all
Recently, I had an issue with my laptop. Whenever i play League Of Legends and the battery runs low the monitor screen turns black. I know the game is still running because i can hear the sound and my friend talking whenever we skype. I have to shut down my laptop and open the game again even after switching on my power supply. Is there a fix for this or shortcut to letting the monitor screen on instead of shutting down my laptop?

The only answer to this is to keep mains power on all the time you're playing that game.

It's clearly running the battery down so far it can't power the graphics and probably shortening the battery's life.

Have you set your screen to turn off after it reaches a certain battery level?
