Solved! Battery states not charging when plugged in

Hi, My son has an acer 4420. after about one year of ownership there was an issue with the laptop shutting of after turning it on. Brought it back to best by and they stated it was the hard drive. Didn't believe them as it sounded like issues with the mother board caps . Anyway brought it back and they ended up changing out the MB. Now I get an issue with the battery not charging. My son informed me that when plugged in he some times gets a message stating battery not charging. I have also observed the screen flicker when plugged into an outlet at his girlfriends apartment. I didn't give it much thought as the apartment house is old and there are a lot of devices hooked up to one of the few outlets. Tend to think two many appliances on the circuit.

In any case, has anyone else had these symptoms or issues with their Acer 4420 and if so what was the solution? I paid $399 for this two years ago and don't want to sink alot into it.

If your son uses it a lot on just the battery, chances are that the battery is shot, i.e. cannot hold a charge anymore or is in the beginning stages of it.
