For those who don't speak french, "nonosse" is baby talk in french for "bone".
(when you'be be using baby talk to lure your dog with a bone for instance).

Up to 31 october, if you bring back your old Fido phone, you get a free Sanyo
picture phone and one year of free 45$/700 minutes package which includes unlimited/evenings/weekens.

There is a limit of 100 such exchanges per Bell store.

You still have to pay the access fees, takes, 911 fees etc.

Applies to Microcell customers who bering an active phone , postpaid package
with a bill dated july 2004 or later. You must take a *3 year contract* in
order to get the one year free. A $399 fee to cancel before end of contract.

So, it looks like Bell will want to steal future Rogers customers .

This offer is interesting in that you essentially get 1 year of service for
$400, or $33 per month for a package Bell charges $45. (eg: take the free
service for a year and then cancel and pay penalty).

I'm interested in this offer. Are you sure it's 700 daytime minutes?

Yep, 700 anytime minutes. Unlimited nights and weekends (20:00 to 07:00 though).

No mention if billed by minute or second, so one assumes by the minute.

I think it would be fair to say that 700 Bell minutes would grant about as
much air time as 400 fido minutes since Fido still bills by the second.

It also include 20 free calls per month to a number of your choice (girlfriend etc).

I guess you'll have to go to the bell mobility stores to get the FULL story
with all the dots on the is and get it all in writing.

One another aspect I hadn't considered:

Anyone who takes such offers for one or more years is pretty well garanteed
never to come back to Fido since by that time, Fido will be under Rogers and
no longer taking any more customers, so once on Bell, there will be very few
reasons to leave Bell since neoithe Rogers nor Telus will offer any real
advantages since all 3 will have the same non-competitive pricing.

If I were Fido right now, I would put a lot of emphasis on customer retention
to fight such offers. Not to please Rogers, but just in case the takeover
fails and Fido is left all alone to fend for itself.

But on the day the takeover is signed, sealed/delivered, then Fido will have
very few reasons or motivation to retain customers. That will probably be one
of the first departments to be integrated into Rogers. (Does Rogers now have a
retention department ?)

When I left Cantel, they didn't try a bit to keep me (rememeber, those were
the days of 3 year contracts at $25 for 30 minutes, billed by the minute, with
$0.50 per minute for additinal minutes whereas Fido offered 100 minutes for
$20 billed by the second and no contract). But a few months after I left, I
got a call from AT&T (Cantel it had switched brands at that time) offering me
a "great deal" on a contract. Told the guy he was WAY too late and that I had
already switched and told him that next time, such deals should be offered
berore the client stops being a client !!!!!

It does not include the touch base feature. That feature costs $6/mth. It
is included with any all-in-one package though.

They have another offer for people who don't wish to sign a term. $0 for a
LG TM250, Nokia 3586i, or Audiovox 8450 if you sign up on any all-in-one
package. You can sign a 30 day term, and get the free phone.

Both offers require you to turn in a recent fido invoice, cell phone in
working condition and fido SIM card. Once the phone is proven to work, you
may destroy the SIM card in front of Bell World rep ensuring that no calls
can be made from your fido phone once turned in.

So, you go back to Fido and pay $25 for a new SIM. You hand in your old 2190
phone with current SIM, then get new sim and put it in your current Fido
ohone... :) :) :)

Very interesting, thanks for sharing this info:)

If I were to switch to Bell would I be able to keep my current cell phone
number or do I have to get an entirely new phone number?

I'm pre-paid at FIDO but thinking of going for a plan and don't want Rogers
if they take over Fido so I would be going with Bell.

Thanks:)

Cheers:)

I would just wait. If Rogers does take over,
I don't think this will be the last you see
of these types of deals.

But one wonders if the offers to come will get better or if they will be less
generous when more and more people will be considering a move.

I think Bell and Telus will fight it out. Not sure Rogers will offer us
anything interesting in public. They may decide to work through the Fido
retention people to switch possible defectors to special Rogers branded offers.

remember that Rogers is paying the big bucks to acquire about 1 million
customers. (how much does this amount to per customer ?). So it may not be in
much of a position to offer additional deals to keep those very customers it
is spending billions to acquire.
