I have been researching gaming laptops. I would be using it for school and home use so i would want it to be portable and powerful. I have a max budget of $1800 I can go higher if needed. Touchscreen would be good but it doesn't have to have it. what should i get. So far i have found the alienware 13 and msi gs60

games i would play: csgo, bf4, cod, kerbal space program, video editing, recording.

i would like it to be future proof and last for a while and play games at ultra - high settings easy

I think that 17 inches is a bit too big for me is there any smaller thinner option you would recommend i might get the razor blade 14 do you think that would be a good option

this is the link to it it would be the one with the 870m and come with the razor naga and kraken 7.1 I think this is a pretty good deal

hello again i would not recommend the razor blade as i previously stated with the other 2 laptops the razor blade has heat dissapation and cooling problems as well because its razor thin and like any other razor thin laptop or thin laptop they dont have the ability to add very many exaust fans or cooling options if a 17 inch is to big i can recommend some 15 inch for ya

that one is a 2015 model with a 970m graphics card with 3gb it has 12gb of ram but can be upgraded to 16gb you can add 3 M.2 SSD drives it also comes with a steel series backlit keyboard and its a 15 inch screen

i have heard some good things about this company that laptop has a 13 inch screen and it has a resolution higher than 1920x1080 it comes with a 256gb SSD it has the 870m 6gb graphics card to plus it has 2 exaust vents for better cooling

i have heard mixed reviews about ASUS gaming laptops but this one has a 850m 2gb graphics card and has a backlit keyboard with 12gb of memory which can be upgraded to 16gb

hope this helps feel free to ask me anymore questions you may have would love to hear what you choose

Kinda hard to say without knowing what kind of gaming you plan to do.

Definitely add the Gigabyte P34G v2. It's a 14" 3.7 lbs ultrabook by all accounts, with a nVidia 860m. It's been replaced by a newer model so I see places selling it for $1100-$1200 now.

The replacement (P34W v3) packs a 970m, but there are some concerns about heat and noise from the higher-end GPU. Mine arrives tomorrow so I can say more then. It's $1700, and most people consider it a much better value than the Razer Blade 14.

The bigger P35W (15.6") is good too (less than 5 lbs if you pop out the optical drive) and just barely within your budget.

The Asus entry in the "ultraportable gaming" category is, unfortunately, long-delayed and super expensive. It's the GX500, which was announced a year ago and still isn't out. By this point most people feel it's going to be outdated by the time it finally shows up in stores.

could you tell me how your p34wv3 goes because i am considering it

the aorus x3 has bad reviews because of the screen so i am a bit iffy on that one but is the gigabyte p34wv3 or gigabyte p35wv3 good

Don't think I'm going to be able to help you. The laptop got here, but the GPU appears to be defective. Its core clock speed drops down to 64.8 MHz (instead of 1+ GHz) within a minute or two of starting a game. The rest of it looks pretty good. But it's going to be RMA'ed tomorrow.

Doesn't the x3 have the exact same Sharp IGZO screen as the Razer Blade, just a matte non-touchscreen version?

hello there actually the one you speak of is the aorus x3 plus it has the sharp igzo tft screen, the regular aorus x3 has a qhd screen not sure if its matte or glossy or if its a tn or ips or tft

on some reviews people were saying the broke the screen because of how thin it was

and did you know you break an iphone 6 if you bend it? lol they probably were mishandling it when it broke, just like the iphone 6 debacle where people purposely bent the iphone to break it, it will not actually break so im pretty sure if your not purposely trying to break it its not gonna break

Just to say, quite a few months ago I got an new gaming ultrabook to replace my old Samsung one. I ended up getting the Optimus V from PC Specialist. It's got decent specs and runs most games I play at high/very high settings without much of an issue (Such as Skyrim, Farcry 4 and even Bioshock Infinite looks damn good). It has 8gigs of RAM. a 120gb SSD, A 1TB HDD at 5400rpm, a 1080p screen and an 860m.

All In all, it is quite expensive at about £900-something. I think it is worth it though, if you have the money (Unless you pay on credit or whatever).
