I need to buy a laptop for 3D modelling in SketchUp & Vectorworks & then rendering. As I(girl) can work from various locations, it should not be too heavy/bulky(Screen not more than 15'' I would say). Budget is not an issue. (Buying for a long term, so would rather opt for better specs/weight rather than save)

Inclined to purchase:
Dell Precision 5000(good weight under 2kg)
Dell Precision 7000(SDD storage, but too heavy)
1) Any good alternatives?
2) I'm quite confused with certain customization options offered (any help would be appreciated)
a) What OS is it better to choose.
(There is a default option of Win10, but Win 7 is also available.
I'm quite conservative, so would opt for Win 7 if no valid reasons to go for Win 10)

Windows 7 Professional (64Bit) Multi-Language - English, French, German, Dutch, Italian add £0.00
Windows 10 Pro 64bit English, Dutch, French, German, Italian [Included in Price]
Windows 7 Professional English, French, German, Dutch, Italian 64bit (Includes Windows 10 Pro Licens add £0.00

b) Display:
15.6" UltraSharp™ UHD IGZO(3840x2160) Touch Wide View LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee with [add £189.00 or £7/month-1]
15.6" UltraSharp™ FHD IPS (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee [Included in Price]
c) Processor (I think it's worth investing in Xeon):
Intel® Core i7-6820HQ Processor (Quad Core 2.70GHz, 3.60GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, w/Intel HD Graphics 530) [Included in Price]
Intel® Xeon Processor E3-1505M v5 (Quad Core 2.80GHz, 3.70GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, w/Intel HD Graphics P5 [add £68.60 or £2/month-1]
d) Memory (would opt for 16, but which one?):
16GB (1x16GB) 2133MHz DDR4 N-ECC [add £76.30 or £3/month-1]
16GB (2x8G) 2133MHz DDR4 Memory Non ECC [add £81.90 or £3/month-1]
8GB (1x8G) 2133MHz DDR4 Memory Non ECC [Included in Price]
32GB (2x16GB) 2133MHz DDR4 N-ECC [add £234.50 or £9/month-1]

e) Drive (Is it worth opting for SDD, M.2 PCIe 512GB SSD for example?)
1TB 2.5" 7mm SATA (5400 RPM) Hard Drive [add £9.80]
500GB 2.5" 7200rpm Hard Drive [Included in Price]
M.2 PCIe 1TB SSD [add £364.00 or £13/month-1]

you need a quite strong laptop for 3d modelling cuz it can take some heavy load.
os windows 10.

what do you think of this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154107

it has got a 128gb ssd so windows would boot up lightning fast and your programs too.
you've got a rainbow keyboard (looks matter too right?).
next to that u have got a strong graphics card so it can handle the hardest programs.
a 1tb hdd so u can drop in some movies and whatever u want.
and its pretty lightweight under 2 kilo.

but where are you from because we might get a better deal for u :)

there no competition i think this is the 1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-14-Inch-Phantom-Gaming-Notebook/dp/B0186CT9EQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1455793716&sr=1-4

its 14 inch / full hd/ lightweight/ extremely fast/ has got a ssd for booting up windows and your programs fast/ has got a gtx 970m so graphical issues don't exist/ the i7 will do multitasking with ease/ ac wifi for 1gb/s wifi if your router supports it.

consider this :)

downside: it can produce a lot of noise under heavy load but with a headset and music on it should be bearable.

Both GS40&GS60 have 128 SDD, correct? I like the GS40 14'' (thank you!) as it's smaller + graphics card looks like is better on this one(3GB here, 2GB on GS60). Any pros for GS60?
I read reviews that MSI are not only quite noisy, but can overheat, any concerns about that?

both have got a 128gb ssd correct.
a 2gb can be more powerful than a 4gb graphics card you can see this by the number gtx960m (the m behind the number means its a laptop graphics card) but yours has got a 970m which is stronger(gs40)

pros gs60 has got a 1cm larger screen and a rainbow keyboard to the gs40 white backlight keyboard

yes indeed the msi laptops can be quite noisy under heavy load like when u play the witcher 3 on ultra.
however with a headset you should be able to withstand that.

for the heating problems yes they can get quite warm it would be a good investment to get a laptop cooler stand.
this means the fans don't need to spin that hard and will so reduce the noise.
however there will be still be some noise under high load

i hope this helped :)

edit: watch this b4 u buy it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82-BY3P9GN0
