I have:

IBM thinkpad
383mhz P2
192mb Ram
6 gb HD
Windows XP Pro Lite

I am getting kinda tired of looking at the same screen. XP runs fine on it. I had 2000 pro on it which actually ran a little better. I've used DSL linux, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, And 7.10.

All i do on this laptop is go online. And occationally i'll watch very low res video on it. All of which does fine on XP and 2000.

I did like DSL, but it doesnt support my wireless card. Its a "myessentials" card, which is recognized as a "Texas intrament" card.

I read a post from a while back about a guy who had a much slower laptop who did a whole bunch of trial and error and finally came to the conclusion of just leaving what was on there. I dont want Windows on this laptop.

I'd even be fine with putting MAC OS9 on here. But i know that is a slim chance.

Which OS would be best?

I've run XP on all my old machines (Dell CPxA, ThinkPad 600e/x). It's just better that way. The only old laptop not running XP is the Armada 4120, which is running Win 95. . .

Win 95. . .
