Best way to setup home entertainment- Roku 3 or HTPC? I want DVR functions

Im trying to figure out the best way to setup my home entertainement system. Should I get a Roku 3 or make my own HTPC? I want to put live TV in one room where I have an account with Comcast so I can access Xfinity TV Live channels on a computer and on my smartphones, but It doesnt seem to allow access through a Roku 3. I'm trying to eliminate the need to have a cable box in the bedroom so I can still watch Conan Live at 11pm before I sleep. I also want to be able to pause and rewind/record live tv like my DVR does in the main room. Also if I could setup some sort of hardrive that had all my movies on there to watch that would be great too. I'm able to use an Antenna and get all the main local channels clear. I'm just having trouble figuring out the best way to go about getting everything together.
