I'm so tired of DVD and CD copy right suits. I feel that once you legally buy something such as a CD/DVD then you own that DVD. Once you own that DVD it becomes your own intellectual property and you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

This is laughable because they gave it away for free so copyright protection does not count. You can buy something and copy it as many times as you want and give it away for free. This lawsuit is a waste of time because if copyright laws prevented free distribution of items that you legally bought then these CD and DVD companies would sue the software and hardware companies for making it possible to copy the stuff in the first place.

I should sue them for putting that crappy Paris Hilton tape out in the first place.

Really? Since when?

The film was shot on a handheld camera (usually hand held too thus saving on *shock* buying a tripod) and everything was done seemingly while on vacation anyway.

So where's the time and expense?


Produce it? It's badly edited, just over an hour long, and given that it's made up of long single-shot scenes it won't take that long to edit either.

So where's the production?


Marketing? She may be the biggest waste of skin in the world, but purely superficially, Paris Hilton looks hot. "Watch Paris Hilton get banged!!!!" This shit markets itself.


And who buys porn DVDs these days anyway? Nonetheless, copyrighted material has been torrented so there is a valid basis for the claim, however much we disagree.

Im not sure what the situation is in the states but here in the UK the whole "company sues for copyright" downloading is just a complete non starter.

THEY CANNOT PROVE WHO DOWNLOADED IT!!

Just having I.P. address does just not cut it here and it justs going through the court process so its about time you guys got an expensive good lawyer and actually fought the merits of this of these type of cases and the evidence used.

Not a good idea to sue, my guess after the sue,publicity they just added 1-2000 new downloads.
me included, as I refused to see it the first time I guess it's time since people are getting sued for

However its legal pursuits may be hampered by an amicus brief filed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) to stop "copyright trolls" such as XPAYS. The organization is asking an Illinois judge to deny subpoenas issued in "pay-up-or-else" lawsuits that involve alleged illegal file-sharing of porn.

I fully support the EFF in their endeavors, they just need to remove the words "of porn" from the end of that statement. As mentioned by hanrak, just finding an IP means nothing, especially given the prevalence of wireless technology. People should not be held accountable for what other people do with their internet connection.

Copyright law = broken.
