Faulty Slot... Or Dirty Slot

Visually check the slot for dust or other obstructions
Does the chip seat firmly and click into place?

Compressed air is the Only recommended Safe way to clean a Ram slow... Other methods are not advised

It would appear so...

1st Ram slot works fine ?
2nd Ram Slot if populated = Black screen

If only the 2nd Ram slot used does it still = Black screen ?

Black screen is occurring due to the Video card trying to access the ram (as most laptops use Ram for Video, unless dedicated gfx card is specified)

Test 1 - Try each ram in Primary slot to test Ram stick is ok
Test 2 - Try each ram in only in 2nd suspected faulty slot - to fully test ram slot

This way to confirm All Ram works ok in working slot... and 2nd slot is faulty.
This also tests compatibility of Ram with each other if 2nd slot works, but ram together black screens

1) Return Laptop if under Warranty for Repair/Replacement (back up your files)
2) Ask Vendor where you got your new Ram stick for a bigger Ram stick since your laptop now only supports 1 Ram chip
