Black Spot on laptop Monitor

Hey, so my friend recently said that there laptop got a black spot. They think It might be growing in size but are not sure. Here is a photo. http://i.imgur.com/Po9P9AD.jpg?1

Could it be water damage, or force trauma damage? Is there anyway to fix, or prevent it from getting worse?

Definitely looks like damage, probably a girl (or dirty guy) with long finger nails poking at the screen. You can try the massage method to see if the damage is just in the LCD layer or down to the control layer.

That looks to be a physical damage to the screen ...It seem to have been hit or squeezed by a hard object..That black mark you see there is actually the ink from the screen you can see and it is very easy for it to become bigger if the screen close to the damage is continuously squeezed, pressed on or hit.

My friend is curious as to how to clean a the screen. Also should we try the massage method as previously suggested?

that is a crack in the screen. could use an external monitor or get a new screen to replace the cracked 1. what is the make & model# of the laptop?
