i have a black rectangle 3/4"x1/4" inch with a `C' in it . How to lose it?

You may have some kind of image burn... if you have stuck pixels you could try a program that could attempt to repair and unstick it..

If it is always present regardless of program used, then it might a hardware issue with the display or maybe the video card (if discrete card installed)? A remote possibility is that some malware may be displaying this "image".

If the "spot" only appears sometimes, it could still be an intermittent hardware issue, but it may be malware?

If there is a discrete video card, try another video card, and/or try the original video card in another computer.

Run on-demand scan for malware using several programs (one at a time). Several programs because one program is unlikely to find all known malware. Programs such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

You brought up an interesting point I hadn't thought of... but it could be expanded into something else. Instead of malware... perhaps there is a program that's hung up and causing a partial letter/character to display on the screen when Windows is starting up... . If that's the case, a malware scan won't detect anything... What could be done is... boot up the computer in Safe Mode to see if that's the case... or even just start up BIOS to check out if anything is on the screen. In fact, that's a great way to determine if it's some kind of burn/stuck pixel or hung up program.. if it's not there... then it probably is something hung up on the system. Task Manager might be able to show what's running... or a 3rd party Startup Manager could show everything that starts up on boot.
