black vertical line 2 inches tall with little lines coming off help please

I have alittle black line going up about 2 inches on my laptop with smaller lines coming off of it. Please help I will try to post some pictures.

This happened to a mate of mine IRL. A display wires getting caught somewhere and screwing your display up. Your gonna have to send it in for repair

When I hook it to my TV via an HD cable the screen gets enlarged on the TV and right where it is cut off is where the line is on the laptop. Its kind of weird. What do you think? The laptop is only about a year old. I just started watching it through the HD cable on the TV recently and a little while after that is when the line first appeared.

Like you said it's weird, if you have the problem with just the laptop, not connected to your TV, the problem from my deduction is your GPU. If it's under warranty you should return your laptop. What is your laptop make and model.

Its the Dell Inspirion 14R. Its only a little over a year old but it just fell out of warranty but I can still buy an extended warranty for it.
