I was talking to a friend over an speaking app, when right when I joined the channel the volume was pretty high up, and they were talking super loud. Since that happened, my laptop has been making this buzzing static noise whenever something is playing or there's noise coming out of the laptop. How do I fix this? What happened?

Solution
It sounds like something was turned up really high which is giving you static. Have you checked the sound volumes?

Right click on the "Speaker" icon in the task bar and then click "Open Volume Mixer". In here you can see the levels of anything hooked up and using sound.

You may also want to go into "Control Panel" and check the sounds in there.
