blue blinking power button

My acer aspire laptop won't charge. I bought a new battery for it and when I put the charger on it the blue power light button blinks and it won't power on.

Does the laptop power on when the battery is removed?

Is it an official Acer battery or it a battery made by another company? Sometime "unofficial" batteries do not work. It is also possible that the battery shipped to you is defective. I would either send it back for a refund or a replacement.
