Blue ray Audio

My Blue ray player is connected to my TV via the audio/visual cables but I do not get any sound when paying either regular DVD's or blue rays. How do I remedy this?

First, does your television have HDMI as an option? HDMI will give you the best audio and video, and it carries both on one cable.

If you do not have HDMI, what audio and video did you use? RCA? Optical?
