so much for freedom of speech , I think obama is a prick myself , and alot worse things .. and i'd tell him myself if i ever met him. i'm in texas, so screw you obama .. using my right to freedom of speech :).. but sderiously this is stupid. how is a drunk idiot ever really threaten especially when hhe is a kid and he is 1000 miles away ...

I see the World Thought Police are hard at work wasting tax payer dollars.

If banning this Brit from entering America for life is punishment I can only imagine what would have happened if the email was sent from an American.

Excuse me, I have to go, the jack-booted government thought police just busted down my front door and are holding holding my family and I at gun point...

Oh yeah, couple more thinga...Obama IS a prick...Obama is a Socialist...and Obama is a Muslim...

It's instances like this that will cause the Repubs and Tea Party to win the mid-term elections in November...

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights FOREVER!

[citation][nom]captainnemojr[/nom]Didn't Obama call someone a Jackass? Weird how you can burn US flags and it's protected speech and stuff but a drunken email with a bad name call in it gets a ban-for-life?[/citation]

When you burn the flag, you are expressing your hate and are threatening the American people. When you are drunk and email the president, you are threatening the president. In a country which tries to say things such as everyone is equal, isn't it nice that the the only person worth protecting (according to our government) is the president?

+1

Everyone's missing some important details here. I seriously doubt the kid was banned for calling Obama a name. The article only states that the email was "full of threatening and abusive language." We have no idea what he actually said. If he made any sort of credible threats, then the FBI has every reason to ban him. It's entirely possible that this is a ridiculous overreaction, but it may not be; without knowing what was actually emailed, we have no way at all of knowing.

[citation][nom]Just Saying[/nom]Then why dont we throw all the drunken drivers out of this country, after all that is far more dangerous then a e-mail[/citation]

Unfortunately colonialism doesn't fly these days like it used to.

Whole thing is simply 'head on a pike at the front gates' mentality.

They want to discourage this sort of thing, so they make an example out of someone publicly.

[citation][nom]bsbsbsbs[/nom]Where'd he get the email address from?[/citation]
president@whitehouse.gov, it's not exactly a hidden email address.

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]"The police who came round took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever."hahahahaaaa no great loss, besides you can always cross from the mexican border and someday soon you'll get a blanket pardon.seriously tho over half of afganistan and pakistan and iraq along with most of the other muslims in the arab world say the same thing, yet we still import them by the thousands, just ask theone who helped some guys fly planes into sky scrapers.seems like a certain president can't handle a lil kid calling him bad names. wonder what he's going to do to us for signing a petition to have him impeached for failing to do his sworn duty and uphold the (immigration) laws of the united states specifically the ones billy clinton signed back in 1995.[/citation]

People from the Middle east are probably not sophisticated enough to send hate emails...

The appropriate response to such an e-mail is _none_.
The second most appropriate response is to make a joke of it:
"Yeah. I remember my first drink."
The 1487327th most appropriate response is to ban the sender for life from the country you are supposed to be representing.

How is calling someone a prick threatening anyone? Nowhere in anything I've read has anyone said that the kid threatened the pres. Just that he called him a name.
If anyone has a link to this email then please post it and show me how he threatened anyone...
