yeah, they complain about our Electoral College, but at least we vote directly for candidates not directly for political parties, who then decide on the prime minister for everyone. oh yeah, and that Queen thing too...but I disgress

Er what? We do vote directly for candidates who then become our local MP and represent our local areas in Parliament for the term of that parliament.

The PM is indeed selected by the party and we pretty much have no say in that right enough, however if you are going to have a go at our system though have a go at first past the post electoral system whereby in the current election the Lib Dems get 23% of the vote but only 9% of the seats.... now that sucks.

Same system here in Canada. I really would like to switch to a system with some proportional representation. We've had a couple of referendums on it in my province, but people always vote it down (I assume because they are ignorant about it and fear change).

Transparent Socialism is probably the next step, the transparency a requirement for the people to accept anything that has been so heavily propaghandized as the root of evil (basic provisionary tenets of communism) in western civilization.

We will get to vote for the person (or party) that is to merely guide the machine through its essential motions, with light manipulations, not the drastic overhauls that always seem to victimize and subjegate a large percentage of the population.

Kind of sounds like canada, minus the transparency part.
