I have an HP laptop running windows 10 the screen broke and it is non functional, it is older so I bought a new windows 10 laptop. I need to transfer the data from the old laptop to the new with a dead screen. Any ideas?
You can use a docking station connected to your new laptop to transfer over data. Need to extract the HDD from your old Laptop and slot into the docking bay. It will look like an additional Hard drive for your laptop in Explorer once connected.....
Here is an example of one but they are everywhere and you can get them much cheaper, just wanted to show they do 2.5" and 3.5" HDD

An older Win10 laptop? Just for reference, replacing a laptop screen is not that difficult in most cases. Regardless, you'll need to remove the hard drive or transfer files over a LAN IF you have file sharing enabled in Network and Sharing Center and IF you have the folders containing your personal data shared on the network. An HDD dock is a good idea, but the more classic approach is a drive enclosure. https/www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5-inches-SATA-Drive-Enclosure/dp/B01N5RLG2C?th=1
