i'm getting real tired fo all the popups when i browse i now use chrome. i shy away from edge as years ago it was trash. and now it looks better but it seems to do the same as chrome does with popups. i now have to run 7 extensions in chrome to keep most of them away. but because chrome took away ublock origin now i'm now getting tons of ebay popups that will not go away. and even in searching just as soon as you click on a site you get tons of popups.

so years ago i was using firefox but then they got hacked and there security went south fast.

so what might be a good browser now that i can control the popups and control my searching? i'm not to much in favor of incognito or vpn's as then search time gets wild. i tried them a few years ago and did not care for them. and when running my security system that was terrible.

so did fire fox ever get back to a usable browser again

ok for the heck of it i installed firefox on one of my laptops. just to see how it works. but one thing i really do not want to do is reset all of my passwords. at this time they are all different and i let the site pick them. now going over to firefox it seems chromes passwords are not following. i had to jump thru hoops just to get my yahoo email back and now to jump again for ebay. back and forth with chrome and firefox just to get the passwords is not going to be a fun job. when i installed firefox it came up with a way to do that but of course that did not work as i figured. it told me to go to chrome settings and downloads but in that i did not find any file marked for firefox. so in the downloads folder what might i look for to get my google passwords? or is there a trick i have to do. if i can get it going and i do not have to go thru hoops to get to all the sites i frequent i may go back to firefox.

ok i put fire fox on this pc for testing. i did finally get google paswords over to firefox. was not hard but the instructions were a bit lacking. they did not say i had to dig deeper in the password section. they made that sound like it happened automatically. anyway i will try it again on this pc and if the popups seem to stay away with ublock origin and ghostery running i may do my other pc and the wifes and my sister and my brothers pc's

now to see if i can get the google calendar to cross over. thanks

i got it. used a tab and pinned it that should work good.

i put firefox on one pc to test for now. so far i do not see any ebay popups but tororrow is another day. i did finally get my passwords over to FF and in a few days they will prove out. if it seems to be better with the ad's all or mostly gone then i will reset my other pc to FF and maybe redo the wifes. and then move my sister and brother over after a month or so of testing. thanks. i did also manage to pin chromes calendar so i did not lose my dates yet.

well day 2 with FF and i had to go and do some tweaks. so far it seems to be working but i will give it some time to see if it stays that way.

but tell me is there a way to remove that box in the top left? the view recent browsing? i really do not need that taking up space along the tab bar.

ok i opened that and found out that i can just drag it out of that place. also it looks like the extra space went also. thanks

also after some ublock origin tweaks i think that ebay popup is gone. but i will give this a few days to make sure.

mostly the browser page is just like the chrome page . it is real hard to describe.

just a bit ago i tried to get ublock origin back on this pc by doing some of the latest tricks from YT and not one worked. and one of the tricks was just a few days ago. and again today i got another chrome update so chrome must have again figured out about UBO and put in a block again. so it looks like this week i will switch this pc over to FF again and see how it goes.

i'm testing FF on another pc that i use at night while passing time.

ok back on the pc running FF and i changed the browser to yahoo and all the side junk went away and all i see is the FF search window. i still use the search window at the top but maybe out of habit. i will try that lower one and see if it is any better.
