Solved! Bsod in install

I dont know if a BIOS flash would help or not. You can go to support.gateway.com and put in your product information and see if they have any new BIOS updates. (Some manufacturers require you to be in Windows for a BIOS update which it sounds like you are unable to do)

Has this laptop worked before? It may help to remove the CMOS battery. Which you would need to open up the laptop for. Gateways site should have some documentation on how to do that and where the battery is located.

Sorry I meant to say that my Gateway 200ARC keeps giving me this message and would stick on the final install screen when I try to boot Windows XP Home and it gives me the message above saying that the bios is not Acpi compliant whenever I try to boot Vista or Windows 7 and goes straight to a BSOD screen and I don't know how to flash the bios in this model laptop can someone please help...

Thanks I will try to open it and remove the battery as I no longer have an OS on the machine and see if that works and yes it worked to the point of booting to the desktop...
