I want buy a laptop which can play games like black flag, gta iv, bio shock infinite at mid settings.
the configuration I am looking for are:
i5 4th gen
4-6gb ram
nvidia 740m (is 1gb enough or should I go for 2gb)
1tb hdd (not priority)
15.6" screen priority

I live in India so according to the market available here laptops I have seen so far:
HP n208tx
lenovo z510(only 1bg 740m),s510p(but this has 2gb nvidia 720m)
dell 3437 (only 1gb 740m)

I want to buy this week so please help me.

for reasons that are out of scope for this thread, a laptop is obsolete the moment you purchase it, very poor return on investment and so i am not giving much advise on them recently

to show it in your college, all you need is the project, not the whole computer

Listen first of all don't advise on a subject you don't know anything about or no one's asking your advice about. Second I am not a spendthrift, so I won't invest on anything which will prove a waste for me. Are you in a college or have you passed from it, what do you know about projects, this is not a school project where I have write a small little code on a school computer as a homework.
I have to run simulation on a machine and I can't be changing machines as the code generally gives errors on different machines.
So if you have any suggestion regarding the query I have asked then please give so.

sorry, I guess I was out of line with my advise.

but point noted, I'm out of this thread.

The laptop is good and fits perfectly for my needs. But it is not available in Indian market, I found one website where it was but they are quoting 78 grand INR. It is way too costly for me.
Also what will receiving by usa2me cost me excluding custom duties.

I will talk to them, but I am not much interested in getting it delivered from a third party half way across the world. Though in the mean time what can you say about lenovo z510 and HP pav 15 n208tx (series name in India). Also can you tell me about the heating problems of HP laptops, I have heard a lot about it from a lot of people, please clarify this.

Thanks even I am considering it. But I want to know how much would 1gb 740m vs 2gb 740m affect me, I won't play much games just want to run AC Black Flag and up till 2014 games at med settings, no need for high or extreme settings.
The 1gb version is about 5000-7000 INR cheaper which is a big save for me.

One last thing before I buy this laptop.
How long can I expect this to last, in terms of performance on daily use basis with a little bit videos and 1-3 hrs of gaming and internet surfing and other stuff? Also in terms of being able to run latest games.

I just found a local dealer, and I can get Lenovo Ideapad Z510 (59-405848) Notebook (4th Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 1TB 8GB SSD/ Win8.1/ 1GB Graph) at the same price as the one without 8gb ssd (online).
Can this ssd be later upgraded?
And how does the warranty works, if any problem - does Lenovo exchange the laptop or do they go for repairs? And who exchanges the laptop Lenovo service centers or the retailers?

I finally bought the laptop 1gb nvidia and 8gb ssd version. But the problem is how do I know if I have the ssd. The ssd since it is only used for caching purpose so it doesn't show up any where. Or am I wrong?

I found it on seagate website - mine is a sshd. Its a hybrid so I can't access it the ssd part of it.
Till now I'm liking it. The keyboard is a bit weird although it is backlit but I like the thinkpad series buttons more. Rest is great.
And I tried Battlefield 3 on this machine at ultra settings absolutely no lag. Though the screen ppi is not that high so not much difference comes between high and ultra settings.
