I'm looking to either buy a prebuilt laptop or build my own. I built my own desktop from scratch http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2043250/day-trading-computer.html?xtor=EPR-8809#12867955.

I guess my concerns are:

Is building a laptop a lot harder then a desktop?
Is it worth the savings? Or not really?

Solution
Its not worth it to build a laptop unless your needs are so specific that it is the only option for you (if your needs where this specific you would not even be asking this question).

Build it laptops are generally not cheaper, dont have that great of options, and laptop assembly is much more difficult as the parts are smaller and more delicate, you need precision screwdrivers/spreaders/tweezers/etc
I probably would not build my own laptop. There may be some guides out there, but in my opinion, the difficulty of building your own laptop does not compare to building your own desktop.

😛
