2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Any size

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Not important. But I prefer a NON-touch one because they consume a lot and I don't use them

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
More something between

5. How much battery life do you need?
Well I think I would be happy with the minimum of 3 hours...

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
No I don't think I will!

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) I am currently doing scientific research as a PhD Student. I am using Matlab and TRNSYS, connected through GenOpt to perform parallel runs of simulations for optimization, thus I need a multi-core CPU (e.g. the most common I think is i7-6700HQ).

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? I think it would be perfect to have an SSD of 240~256 GB and an additional 1TB of HDD. do you think is good?

I am optimistic and I would say 5 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Any of the above will do the job

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I consider Acer, ASUS (ROG), Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo, MSI, Clevo, Gigabyte... not in particular order and the list is not closed, I am open to suggestions.
I don't consider at all HP (Hewled Packard)...for personal reasons, bad service...

Greece and France

I am also a little concerned with warranty and after sale service... I know for instance DELL gives me 3-yr world-wide and repair next day!

All those are pretty much equal in quality and speed. You should look up some reviews of the screen among them. I am a bit partial to Lenovo systems, but that goes back several years on the T models when they have really good keyboards. The new systems are more or less equal, except for the screens they use.
