Hi

I can't find any good laptops with nice SSDs. I am thinking of buying the Asus UL30a (for its nice keys and strong specs) and buying a SSD on the side. Do you think it would be practical to open up the Asus and put in the SSD. Does anyone know where I can find if it is even possible ?

cheers

thats the problem .. the laptops with stock SSDs seem to be really expensive and not that good ..

the keyboard on that ASUS Ul30A is lovely

Also, I noticed on Anandtech that SSDs give a real awesome boost only on netbooks/ultra portables ... on machines which are already heavyweight, not that much...

I don't see how its cheaper to buy one with SSD in stock .. the UL30A is around 700 USD and the OCZ Vertex SSD 64G (that anandtech in its review said is a good choice over intel cos of its price) is only 255 .. which gives a total of under 1000, the lenovo at that link is for 1500
