I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what I should check for on an alienware laptop i'm thinking of buying second hand. Is there anything i should be wary of?
UPDATE:
The above Lenovo is nice, but it does only have a dual-core (with hyperthreading) CPU. The following laptop is 17" so larger, costs more, but also has a FOUR-core (with hyperthreading) CPU.

Don't buy a second hand laptop, laptops don't last as long as desktops. Laptops get more heat wears them down so fast. If the person overclocked anything again it will be an even worse situation, you also have to worry about how old the battery is... You dont get a good warranty, if any at all. It is not a good idea at all, alienware laptops are overpriced anyway. Clevo/Sager are really really nice, but still not second hand.

What is your budget? Maybe we can help you find something new that will meet your needs?
I agree with all the above. Unless you're fairly certain you are getting an awesome deal don't consider used.
Even at HALF the price (which may be 75% the price of a similar, cheaper brand) you can spend a lot to repair it if something goes wrong and there is no Warranty.
You should also ask yourself why someone would sell their awesome laptop so quickly.

I'm just looking for something to record and edit gameplay from my xbox. I dont have a budget but I don't want to go mad spending. I'm in Ireland so my budget would be €450-500 in USD that'd be 615-680. There shouldnt be too big a change in price. What make would even be the best?
I have an ASUS Laptop and love it, an ASUS MOBO, and a nexus 7. That is a really good deal on a quad core i7 laptop, should handle your needs for years.
