Hi guys,
I'm planning to buy a used ASUS K55VJ laptop but this will be the first time I'm buying a laptop at all. As new ones should not make any worries, what should I check in a used one? This ASUS is still under warranty and has been used only for a month, but yet, what should I check for and what should I be aware of?

Thanks!

Solution
Buying online or in person? I probably wouldn't buy a used laptop online.
Verify, from Asus, that the warranty is transferable
Get all the paperwork it came with, preferably including the box.
Get all the disks and equipment it came with.
Verify it boots to a non-counterfeit OS
Verify it all works (DVD, LAN, audio, etc)
Look for any scuff marks, etc (Has it been dropped?)
For a used laptop, don't pay more than ~60% of retail

Yeah, I'm actually buying it for 60% of retail price and I'm doing it in person. In this case, warranty is not for a specific person (it doesn't give any information about the buyer), it is for a specific product.

Well the fact that it's been used for only a month and still has a warranty of almost three years, calms me down about most of these problems :)

Yeah, this question is probably the biggest of all and will definitely be the first one that I ask him

And the 'answer' may not tell you anything.
"I already have 2 other PC's, and my car just broke down, blah blah blah"

Verify you get all the paperwork, incl the original receipt.

Ha, I have the broken car in my list of possible answers as well, but still, I like to trust people. :) And of course, the papers are nothing but necessity!
