Buzzing sound from headphones

I recently got a pair of used 5.1 surround sound headphones from a family member, and they seem to have this really annoying buzzing noise. They're connected through some green/pink/amber component cables. It's not constant, but once it starts, it takes about half an hour for it to end. I've tried a few solutions, but none of them worked, any ideas on how to fix this.

Is the sound heard from a different sound sound source. The most logical step is connect them to a difference source to see if the same problem persists. If so, then they're probably damaged.
