Calculating the Rarity of Your Fingerprint

Great just what we need in the age of body scans and other forms of biometrics that are a wet dream of any tyrannical government such as that of our own in America and the nations of Europe.

Gentleman, I present you the motto for conformists...

nforce4max..whats to worry about if you haven't committed a crime? you seem to be fighting on the criminals' side.. What, are you afraid you're going to get fingerprinted and sent to jail for no reason? I just don't understand anyone's reason in complaining about such an issue that is so irrelevant to their lifestyle. There is absolutely no reason to bitch and moan when it affects you in no way.

It's thoughts from people who have differing opinions like nforce4max that form a basis for a better government. One can't simply ignore problems or live with it, but one can strive to fix it.

The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime
that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. ~Ayn Rand

And yes, finger printing, body scanners and other biometrics affect us in a BIG way, just because you want to live in denial of what is, doesn't change reality.

Some of the comments are pathetic... try living in a country like Belarus, you will come to love the US and its European friends. You have no idea how much of a break you are getting.

Who knows, phones may be able to scan fingerprints on things like they can do barcodes today.

"Hey look, Jimmy was here too!"

I was going to say this. I live in England, the most watched country in Europe in terms of CCTV; you can't do anything in public without being caught at least 35 times on CCTV.

That said i am still grateful for the cultural and civil liberties I enjoy in the country. When you look at some other countries in the world who are far closer to a fascist regime than we western countries are, you get a little perspective.

That's why it's important to stop it early in it's tracks. If we do nothing now, imagine how far it will go. They will never stop and we will lose more and more as the years go by and next thing you know, we become worse than Belarus!

While that is true, just compare our freedoms to those 100 years ago (in the US anyways), or even 50 or 20 years ago. Governments have been steadily taking away our rights over the past decade or 2 at an increasing rate.

[citation][nom]Cushgod[/nom]@ gm0n3y WTF are you smoking[/citation]
I agree with gm0n3y... I beleive his statement to be true
"" Governments have been steadily taking away our rights over the past decade or 2 at an increasing rate""

How about the very fundamental right of "privacy"? Or perhaps the DMCA or woefully named Patriot act?

Just because you can't recognize erosion doesn't mean it is untrue.

Take the curtains off your bedroom windows, indeed off your whole house. You've got nothing to hide, right? Also, take all the locks off your doors... You've got nothing to hide, right? While you are at it, be sure to accurately document IN WRITING every single thing you do over the course of a day and post it online. After all, you have nothing to hide, right?

I have nothing to hide, but I still don't feel like forfeiting my privacy and anonymity for no good reason.

Speaking of the Patriot Act, the ONLY Senator to vote against it just got voted out of office for not being a Con. Funny how that works out.

He got voted out for not being able to determine that 65% of this country is not in favor of increased taxes to fund handout programs. ;-) Right now, the hot button item is the economy and tax structures. After all, it doesn't matter what freedoms you have if you don't have the financial ability to use them.

I love the people's comments on if you don't like it, leave... it seems that there is no place on earth that is going to be without camera's watching you, the government tracking your cell phone signal and use of your creditcards (this is already be collect by the gov, the where and when you use your CC).

I think the first private company to launch into space should rush to the moon and setup shop there. I know there is a think about the moon being for the people of earth, but if you are the only one there, who writes the laws. I would say if you want privacy, an underground bunker that can be pressurized and some mining gear. Get some solar panels to provide energy and to crack the oxygen from the water that is on the moon and you have oxygen...

So I think if you want your privacy on earth, you arn't going to get it... I think it doesn't exist. Have to go to the moon... if you manage to setup a nice mining complex and finding away to mine the nickel and iron and copper and whatever else is there and sending it back.... potential money maker and an environment for a few thousand people to live. No real government control... only control would be the person who founded it... Someone said first private person to land on the moon will be the one to use it and become the first trillionare....

So, I guess I will design my own rocket and send myself on a one way trip... probably end up blown up 2 miles up... but I will be free...

:-D
