Can anyone tell me where the CMOS battery on a Gateway SX2370-UB30P is?

We have a Gateway SX2370-UB30P that has been working fine. Recently when we turn the computer on we get a BIOS message saying the battery is dead. I've taken the cover off - but can't find the battery.. Google searches have turned up nothing.

Most motherboards will have a small CR2032 3v. battery used to keep bios info. It looks like a small disc about the size and shape of a nickel. Look at your motherboard for it. It should be removable. It might even be on the back side of the motherboard.

Hello Oldguy, I have the same model computer you have and also have been unsuccessful in finding out how to replace it.
One tech told me sometimes they are part of the motherboard. I did find a picture of the inside of a computer showing where
the cmos battery is located. (found it on Computer Hope) I asked a tech about it and he said could be cmos battery #CR2032. It is a small flat silver one about the size of a nickel. So, if you took your cover off and did not see it my guess is that it must be
part of the motherboard.-- I have read that if we replace the battery ourselves we must be careful regarding a possible
very small undetectable charge that could damage the computer. You must be grounded at all times (by having contact with the case or some other way.)

Dear Oldguy67890, I have no solution but I have a SX2801 Gateway with a dead CMOS battery and by looking at the location picture of the CMOS battery, mine will be under the DVD Drive/player and now I need to find out how to remove the dvd to access the CMOS battery...this may be the same problem, but I can find no info for the DVD removal can you help me out?

The battery is located on the motherboard under the DVD and hard drive. To access it pull the side cover off held on by 2 screws in the back. The front panel is removed by lifting and pulling forward the 3 black tabs (part of the front panel that hold it in place)that will be visible once you remove the side panel. The DVD and hard drive assembly is held in by two screws on the front of the metal cabinet under the black plastic front panel. Lift the back of the DVD/hard drive assembly up and out of the cabinet. Now you can see the CR2032 battery. It is mounted in a manner that stands it up on it's edge. Pay attention to how the old one is installed so the new one goes in correctly. If this sounds complicated, trust me really it isn't. I am trying to be very clear in this diy please post. Try to keep one hand in contact with the cabinet at any point you are handling the components as to avoid any shock to the parts, especially if you have shag carpet.
