Can I connect 2 sets of 2.1 speakers to a macbook pro?

I have a normal Logitech 2.1 speaker and a normal 2.1 Edifier speaker. They both come with a 3.5mm audio jack. My question is if I use an audio splitter (one with 2 available 3.5 audio jack hole connected to a single 3.5mm audio jack) will both of the speakers work? Are there any bad effects in terms of sound quality or will they both work normally? I am planning to connect them to my macbook pro
