Solved! Can I connect my Apple TV Generation One to my PC laptop so I can see the screen for navigational purposes only

I'm trying to connect an Apple TV Gen 1 to my HP laptop using an HDMI cable from the laptop to the Apple TV so I can see the Apple TV navigation bar. I have the Apple TV plugged into my A/V receiver and just want to listen to iTunes songs that are downloaded on the Apple TV hard drive.
