Solved! Can i connect spdif to optical?

Hey guys.
I recently bought an hdtv and i want to connect my home theatre to it.
The problem is the only port that i can see on my tv is called s/pdif and the one on my home theatre is an optical output.
Please tell me how do i connect the two because i can see that the two ports look different.
So please tell me if i will need a converter and what type of connecter do i have to use?
And please i am a noob in this kind of stuff so please don't use technical language

S/PDIF coaxial with RCA connectors can be converted to optical.

Looks like you need Optical to Coax, not the one above.

Optical OUTPUT on your home theater would do no good. You need an optical INPUT.
What are the model numbers of the TV and stereo ?

S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) is an audio transfer format interface.

The signal is transmitted over either a coaxial cable with RCA connectors or a fibre optic cable with TOSLINK connectors.

You wrote you can see the port on the HDTV, but you don't identify what kind of port it is.

i never saw home tether with optical outputs, only inputs
lets say your tv has spdif out and your htr has optic input
data from both are same, just spdif uses electric current for transfer whereas optical cable uses light

@Calvin7 it looks the same as RCA ports.

Don't get thrown off by terminology, SPDIF jack is WHAT? looks like a Toslink jack, then that's all u need bud. If it looks like a standard RCA jack, then all u need a cheap RF-to-Optical Digital Audio converter.

What is coaxial thing? can you guys tell me .
Is it the same as s/pdif jack?
If it is then i can just buy a coax to toslink converter.
Please help.
