Greetings Linda:

a) Were the pictures located on a computer or a smartphone?
b) How long ago did this happen?

If the pictures were on a computer you might be able to retrieve them from the waste basket icon on your computer's desktop. If they were on a smartphone they might have been backed-up onto your Google account provided you have ticked this option in the phone settings. This also presupposes that you haven't manually emptied the computer's waste basket.
