Can I hook up my blu ray player with my laptop? my laptop has a HDMI cable port.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron14 and it has a HDMI cable port. Also my Blu-ray player comes with an HDMI cable and I don't know how to connect it. Do I need some type of app to be able to watch movies or something like that?

The HDMI port on your laptop is output only. You can't connect the blueray to your laptop via HDMI.
