I am thinking of buying the Lenovo ideapad c13 with an intel I3 5005u dual processor , will I be able to play the sims 3 ?

If no, what laptops would you suggest?

Well, I guess it was too good to last long because I definitely verified that a new one was selling for £400... unless it was a typo.

This Acer is somewhat similar but it only has a 1366x768 screen, it weighs more at 2.4kg and comes with a slightly older Core i5-4210u CPU (which is more than capable for your daughter's needs). Unfortunately, it seems to be the only other laptop within your budget with a nVidia 940m graphics chip. I

Other than that you are basically looking at laptops with Intel integrated graphic which are still good for playing the Sims 3 and good enough to play the Sims 4. Though it seems they all have the lower 1366x768 resolution screen. The following HP 250 G4 laptop is selling for £400. It has a Core i5-6200u, Intel HD 520 graphics, 1366x768 screen, 8GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive.

It seems finding a good laptop for £400 in the UK is pretty tough... Have you considered moving to the US? :)

Can you provide a link to the laptop? Googling "Lenovo ideapad c13" provide no results for a laptop.

However, the i3-5005u and it's Intel HD 5500 graphics core is enough to play the Sims 3. I have seen that game played on a laptop with an older CPU and less powerful integrated graphics.

Also, what is your budget since the could be a laptop with slightly better specs within your price range?

Thanks for your reply. My budget is upto £400. It's for my daughter who apart from playing sims, just watches you tube and does school work.

The following 15.6" Asus K501UB laptop sit right at the limit of your budget. It has a Core i7-6200u CPU, a nVidia 940m graphics chip, 1080p resolution screen, 12GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive with a 16GB SSD cache.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-K501UB-DM021T-Notebook-i7-6500U-Graphics/dp/B01A6XLR2U/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1477505130&sr=8-6&keywords=940m

The i7-6200u is a lot more powerful than the i3-5005u CPU which means it has more horse power and technically means the laptop can last longer before she feel it is no longer powerful enough for her. The nVidia is more than capable of playing the Sims 3 and Sims 4, it's much better than the Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics core in i3-5005 CPU. The 1080p screen means that she has enough desktop real estate on the screen so that she can have a word processor on the one side of the screen while having an internet browser on the other half of the screen. That way if she needs to do research for writing a paper she does not have to switch between the two programs if she does not want to.
