Yes they have the same socket but will it actually run, the ebay page also said something about updating the bios :-? I know what the bios is and how to access it, but update? Now you've lost me.

Yes, it fits there because it has the same socket, but the i7 has a significantly higher TDP, 35W vs 55W.

That means the stock cooler in the laptop won't be able to cool down the CPU properly and it will over heat eventually.

Either way, the motherboard also may not recognize that CPU. This require a BIOS update, but this doesn't guaranty that it will work
