Can i store data on a sim card

I'm running out of space on my phone. I got a sim card and I'm trying to move data to it,but I can't figure out how, or do I need an SD card?

yes, you need a sd card.

You cannot store generic data on a SIM card. Altough there are couple of kilo-bytes of storage available (eg for contacts, SMSs, settings), this storage is not user-accessible.
