While U.S. Cellular phones are CDMA ones, Straight Talk has CDMA in some areas and GSM in others. Depending on what network they are borrowing in that particular area.

You would need to contact Straight Talk to see if that area for them is CDMA or GSM. Only they can tell you for sure.

Also, they aren't interchangeable and you can't change a device from CDMA to GSM or the other way around.

I have a us cellular samsung galaxy S5 phone and got the
straight talk byop from walmart. Although its a 4g phone I do only connect at 3g but my signal comes from a Verizon tower and I can't get pict mess on sms but I can only messenger so I'm good with it all...

I have the same problem. Did you ever figure out how to get 4g and MMS active?
