A friend of mine switched from an verizon iphone 4s to a Droid and gave me his old iphone 4s for verizon. I would like to switch this iphone to Straight Talk but do not want to interfere with his contract now. How do i go about getting this new iphone unlocked so that i can put a straight talk sim in the Iphone 4s? I am new to this and any help would be extremely useful. Thanks.

Have him go with you to one of Verizon's retail stores and have the contract signed over to yourself.
Unlocking is ILLEGAL in the United States. Regardless of carrier, phone, contract status, make, model, etc etc. If it's locked to Verizon, keep using Verizon. Unless you're willing to fly to Canada, unlock it, then fly home.
